WA 91-93 (12/2015): Leading off the reds from barrel, the inky colored 2014 Cornas is mouth-coating and rich, with a non-2014-like level of fruit and texture. It will be interesting to see how this shows from bottle. Stephane Robert continues to fashion some of the most impressive, concentrated and unctuously textured Syrahs in the northern Rhône. These latest 2013s are blockbusters, and his 2014s are some of the most concentrated wines I was able to taste from a vintage that mostly yielded forward, mid-weight drinkers. You can’t wrong with this estate. VM 91 (3/2016): Opaque ruby. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe cherry and blueberry preserves, olive and smoky minerals, enhanced by a peppery topnote. At once rich and lively, offering palate-staining dark berry and cherry cola flavors and intense back-end florality. Finishes spicy and very long, with impressive energy, subtle tannins and lingering spiciness. JLL *** (12/2015): Dark robe. Blackberry coulis, fleshy style bouquet - it is a little reserved, and can give more. The attack is soft, comes with quite cool blueberry fruit at its heart. The tannins are fine - this is precise Cornas with decent length. It gives lightweight, modern, easy drinking. Bottled 15 Nov 2015. |

VM 94-96 (12/2022): Saturated violet. Highly fragrant, mineral-accented boysenberry, cherry liqueur, candied violet and allspice aromas are complemented by a smoky mineral nuance. Offers palate-staining dark berry, candied licorice and bitter chocolate flavors that pick up notes of candied flowers and exotic spices on the back half. Powerful but surprisingly lively as well, finishing very long and smooth, with sharp delineation and gently gripping tannins. Josh Raynolds. JD 94-96 (2/2022): The 2020 Cornas shows the vintage’s ripe yet fresh style. Lots of red and blue fruits, a kiss of minerality, medium to full body, and ripe tannins all make for a beautiful, impeccably made Cornas that will have two decades of longevity. |

| JD 92-94 (12/2022): The 2021 Cornas showed amazingly well, and it brings more ripeness and texture than just about every other Cornas out there. Ripe blackberries, mulberries, spicy herbs, and earth all emerge on the nose, and it's medium-bodied, with terrific mid-palate depth and ripe tannins. This cuvée comes from a mix of terroirs and will spend 14 months in used barrels. |

| JD 93-95 (12/2022): The 2021 Cornas Vin Noir is even better and clearly a candidate for the wine of the appellation. Ripe blackberries, smoked herbs, cured meats, iron, and spice all flow to a medium to full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, balanced Cornas offering ripe, velvety tannins, plenty of mid-palate depth, and a great finish. Bravo. |

JD 98 (12/2019): Lastly, the flagship white is the 2018 Saint-Peray Pur Blanc, which is 100% Marsanne from 100-year-old vines that was brought up all in barrel. It offers a liquid rock-like minerality and salinity as well as extraordinary notes of white currants, quince, green almonds, and toasted bread. This full-bodied, powerful Saint-Peray has a stacked mid-palate, flawless balance, and a finish that won’t quit. It’s one of the greatest Saint-Perays ever made. WA 95 (12/2019): One of the region's best white wines, Robert's 2018 Saint Peray Pur Blanc proves that altitude isn't a necessity—the century-old Marsanne vines are located in the village of Saint Peray, at the base of the appellation. It's reticent on the nose, with delicate scents evocative of crushed stone and rainwater, and then full-bodied but fresh on the palate, with lively flavors of pear and melon. It really separates from the pack on the finish, which is long, lively and cooling-refreshing, with an almost weightless character. VM 95 (5/2020): Light, shimmering yellow-gold. Highly perfumed Meyer lemon, pear nectar, iodine and tarragon qualities on the expansive, mineral-accented nose. Juicy and finely detailed on the palate, offering densely packed citrus, orchard fruit, honeysuckle and sweet butter flavors that show outstanding clarity and mineral cut. Delivers superb energy and power on the incisive, strikingly long finish, which features resonating floral and mineral notes. Raised in four year-old barriques; the vines in this plot are over 100 years old and may include some ancient, now non-permitted varieties. Josh Raynolds. |
